Red Sox deal Manny at the buzzer!

WEEI and NESN are reporting that Manny has been traded. The details are not available yet, but one source is claiming thath Dodgers are part of the deal...

More to come...

5:00PM - It's official, NESN is reporting that Manny is now Dodger and Jason Bay is now a Red Sox. The details...
Boston gets Pittsburgh outfielder Jason Bay, while the Bucs gets Boston reliever Craig Hansen, Boston outfielder Brandon Moss, Los Angeles third baseman Andy LaRoche and Los Angeles minor league pitcher Bryan Morris.

Bottom Line: It's still possible that the Sox will get another player here, but if not, the Sox got hosed. We gave up Moss, Hansen and Manny (and paid Manny's contract out - $7M) for Jason Bay.

Just goes to show you how bad they wanted him gone...

I'm exhausted. We'll have more tonight or tomorrow. Thanks for tuning in.

4:35 - WEEI is reporting that Jason Bay is part of the deal and is likely coming to Boston... Manny will go to LA.

4:30PM - Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthan says:

The Dodgers could be the team getting Bay, if he indeed is traded. The teams were talking about Bay just prior to the deadline, according to a source with knowledge of the discussions. Outfielder Andre Ethier might go to the Pirates in a deal for Bay, and the Dodgers also are deep in prospects that are coveted by other clubs.

Another possibility is a three-way deal in which Ramirez would go to the Dodgers and Bay to the Red Sox with the Pirates receiving outfielder Andre Ethier and prospects.
