Getting swept in the Trop, puts them at 6-8 on the road. On Saturday April 12th, i predicted that the Sox would beat the Yankees that Sunday and then go on an 11-5 run... winning 5 of their 7 games on the road. Well they did win 3 of four on the short road trip through Cleveland and New York, but the sweep in Tampa put them at 3-4... not good.I also said that Fenway Park is the key to their success, and they proved me right with a sweep of the Texas Rangers. But the Angels (who normally dread playing in Fenway) took two of three while the flu took out the entire Red Sox roster and now they sit at 5-2 at home with a 3-game series versus the Blue Jays.
Bottom Line: My prediction was for them to finish the month at 18-11. They're currently at 15-12, so I've already lost... but the Blue Jays have won just 1 of their last 7 games, and that came last night with a 5-2 win over the Royals...
There's still hope that they can win their 18th game on May 1st and make me look kinda smart.
Either way, this prediction was made while the Sox were 6-6 and still reeling from the Japan trip... with the Yankees, Indians and Angels all on the radar. The Red Sox could still wind up being the .500 club most expected them to be on May 1st, but I think the Fenway Faithful will rise to the occasion again this week and get our boys back on track.
ps. I think a more amazing prediction would have been guessing that the Rays and Orioles would be leading the East right now...
